Units of this color were part of the 8th grade social studies curriculum at Milford Middle School. Students did receive a strong foundation of content in these areas; however,  review will occur and be neccessary in order to apply those units to "real world" and current events.

Civics  lessons and activities will include research in political parties and liberal and conservative viewpoints.   Students will  use "real world"  current events in order to apply how government works and who influences decisions.   In addition to identifying and researching their own perspectives,  students will be encouraged to identify other view points, and identify how other opinions challenge or validate their own viewpoints.   Students will be exposed to several sources in order to produce evidence in application.
Class assignments will include a wide variety in order evaluate students in different ways:  classwork, homework, quizzes, tests, projects and journals. Extra credit will be offered during each quarter - look for posting on website!
Students' grades are computerized and will be sent home with student
twice a quarter to be signed FOR A GRADE!    Most students' grades fall when they do not make-up work from abscences!

* DISCLAIMER:   Teacher  will  NOT  use  personal  opinions to persuade student thinking; however,  teacher will often play  "devil's advocate" in order to expose  students to many other points of view (gender, socioeconomic, culture, age and gender)  to question why other citizens think differently!
